Back to the College Football Uniforms
The Cowboys thought it would be cool to shorten their “WYOMING” wordmark prior to the 2011 campaign as part of a football program rebranding under Nike.
The most eye-catching option wasn’t revealed until the following season when the Cowboys released their 2012 alternate grays featuring yellow camouflage shoulders. Proudly displayed across the front is the school’s new “WYO” moniker in dark brown along with jersey numerals outlined in yellow.
A revamped dark brown matte helmet made its first appearance last season as well with a glossy brown “Bucking Horse” logo. The last time Wyoming wore brown helmets was in 1976. The Cowboys have four different jersey options — two whites, a yellow and a brown.
The shortened “WYO” wordmark is across each top except for the road browns that have “WYOMING”. In all, the Cowboys have nine different jersey and pant combinations manufactured by Nike. Current brown pants have “COWBOYS” stretching vertically down each side of the leg.
The most far out look — and possibly the coolest — is Wyoming’s white helmet, gold jersey and brown pants combination. Since the mid 2000s, Nike has done a great job with Wyoming’s color scheme and annually outfits the program with some of the hottest uniform templates.
Prior to the 2012 switch, the Cowboys donned white helmets every Saturday with mix-and-match jersey and pant combinations. One of the most fitting looks is Wyoming’s all-white with gold and brown accents with a white helmet.
