Back to the College Football Uniforms
“Hail State” is the new slogan in Starkville under head coach Dan Mullen, hence the reasoning behind the Bulldogs’ helmet switch to a maroon shell that includes the traditional M with “STATE” written across.
Mississippi State moved to its current helmet color/logo combination in 2010. Previously, the logo was stuck on a white shell from 2004-08. Adidas’ football rebranding at Mississippi State has included several alternate uniform changes. One set features an all-white with silver numbering get up the Bulldogs debuted against Texas A&M in 2012.
The sleek, Techfit uniforms were made in honor of Mississippi State’s “Snow Bowl” matchup with the Aggies in 2000. The white helmet has a silver, oversized Bulldog that nearly covers the right side and the traditional school logo on the back.
Adidas’ Egg Bowl mock up had similar white tops and pants but the numbering and piping was gold with a matte maroon helmet. Instead of Adidas’ favorite oversized Bulldog decal, the matte shell features the traditional M with “STATE” in the forefront but has gold accents. Both special white jerseys have “Hail State” across the nameplate instead of player names. The base layer worn underneath the uniforms are decorated with Bulldog logos and stripes on the sleeves.
Mississippi State’s simplistic home and away designs – maroon and white tops with white pants — are most desirable, but Adidas has added grey pants as a clean home variation.
The Bulldogs had a Nike contract before moving to Adidas in 2009. Mississippi State is one of 13 schools to be officially sponsored in all sports by the three stripes.
