Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders Football Uniforms

Back to the College Football Uniforms

Nike provided Middle Tennessee State with its first alternate in 2012, an all-black option with blue and silver accents. The combination wasn’t perfected until the Blue Raiders ditched their silver helmets for a black matte finish for a win over North Texas, setting the Sun Belt figuratively on fire with the threads. The get up is similar to BYU’s and Kentucky’s current black and blue alternates only Middle Tennessee State’s numerals are blue with a silver outline instead of white.

The Blue Raiders now have several uniform combinations at their expense on gamedays including the seldom-used white on black. The preferred choice at home is blue on silver and white on blue on the road. Middle Tennessee State’s swoosh threads include wide-striped shoulders, blocked numerals and a “MT” secondary logo at the crest.

The Blue Raiders switched to their current primary logo in 1999, a flying pegasus with a blue lightning bolt on top of a blue and black MT. They’ve been wearing silver helmets since the 1979 season. In the 1970s, Middle Tennessee State’s shells ranged from white with red accents to navy with patches of light blue in the logo.

The Blue Raiders have kept their blue and silver color combination on helmets and on-field apparel since 1979.
