Back to the College Football Uniforms
Now that Nevada fooball’s on the map thanks to San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, it was time for the Wolf Pack to step up in their uniform game and they did this off-season.
Nevada is set to unleash three new helmets for the 2013 season including the first white shell in program history. A new silver lid, Nevada’s first since 2001, will look best with the program’s all-navy home alternate. Nevada’s primary navy shell with a gray wolf logo has been updated with a navy facemask but kept its silver stripe down the middle.
The Wolf Pack’s most recent uniform redesign from the swoosh came in 2011 when Nike dropped wavy shoulder accents in favor of contrasting ribcage piping and a sleeve stripes. It was the first apparel makeover in four seasons during the Kaepernick years.
The improved uniforms look similar to what Nevada donned with Adidas during the mid 2000s. Nevada’s current all-white road combination with navy accents and navy helmets is one of the Wolf Pack’s preferred choices.
Nevada has worn its modernized growling wolf logo since 2002 following a department-wide redesign. Previously, the Wolf Pack’s helmet logos included a block “N” and scripted “PACK” wordmark. Nevada may also welcome the return of gray alternates with the new helmets in 2013.
